Zoomlion Ghana Limited has responded to circulating reports regarding its contract with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), affirming that the agreement simply expired and was not canceled by the government. "The contract between Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and Zoomlion Ghana Limited has expired and will not be renewed," stated the Office of the President in a letter dated June 11, 2025.
The company clarified that the contract, initially set to end in March 2024, received a six-month extension, formally concluding in September 2024.
Addressing speculation about the government's position, Zoomlion emphasised that its longstanding partnership with successive administrations remains intact. "Contrary to claims in some media reports, this expiration does not constitute a termination or cancellation of the agreement," the company asserted.
In response to government plans to subject future sanitation contracts to competitive procurement, Zoomlion welcomed the move, noting that its expired YEA contract was awarded through a competitive process in 2019. "We are well prepared and eager to participate in any forthcoming bidding," the company stated, citing its nationwide reach and operational expertise.
