The search operation for missing students from Lawra Senior High School has come to a close after the final two bodies were recovered early this morning, bringing the total death toll to seven.

According to local authorities, the bodies were found at the Dewo River, approximately two kilometres downstream from the Dikpe River, where the initial incident occurred on Saturday morning.

The discovery marks the end of a nearly 24-hour rescue and recovery mission following the tragic canoe accident that claimed the lives of seven students.

The students, all members of the school's cadet corps, had embarked on their routine Saturday morning jogging session when they decided to cross the Black Volta River at Dikpe in a canoe.
