Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, Hamza Suhuyini, has disclosed that the demands made by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) are reasonable and justified, urging the government to deepen its engagement with health workers to avoid future disruptions.
Speaking on Channel One TV's The Big Issue on Saturday, June 14, Suhuyini clarified that the government does not oppose the core demands of the Association, but rather the timeline for implementing them. "If they had taken their time and engaged more productively with us, they would have come to appreciate that, in principle, the government is not against their demands.
The issue has always been about the implementation timeline," he said.
He noted that the issues raised by the GRNMA reflect broader concerns about the country's public sector wage structure and emphasised the government's commitment to addressing them comprehensively. "These are things we believe they require to deliver on service demands, not just nurses, but across the public sector.
