Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has called on the Attorney-General to prioritize recovering the stolen funds in the GH¢548 million National Service Scheme (NSS) scandal rather than focusing solely on prosecution and jail terms. "There is a lot of money involved in this case.
My opinion is that the AG should rather concentrate on recouping the stolen money instead of prison time," Kpebu said during an appearance on TV3's Keypoint.
He also seized the moment to criticize the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its handling of corruption cases, noting that the scandal reflects broader governance failures. "This scandal justifies why Ghanaians decided to kick out the NPP.
The records of Akufo-Addo in the fight against corruption can never be compared to those of President Mahama," he added.
