President John Dramani Mahama has intervened in the suspension of 64 radio stations across the country, directing the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation to engage the National Communications Authority (NCA) for their immediate restoration.
This follows the NCA suspending the over 60 FM radio stations across the country for violating broadcasting regulations.
Among the affected stations are Asaase Radio and Wontumi FM, which have been taken off air.
The enforcement action followed a recent nationwide audit, which uncovered widespread non-compliance with provisions of the Electronic Communications Act and its accompanying regulations.
