The National Communications Authority (NCA) has ordered the immediate shutdown of more than 60 FM radio stations across the country for violating broadcasting regulations.
Among the affected stations are Asaase Radio and Wontumi FM, which have been taken off air.
The enforcement action follows a recent nationwide audit, which uncovered widespread non-compliance with provisions of the Electronic Communications Act and its accompanying regulations.
The audit, carried out under a directive from the Ministry of Communications, found that many stations were operating without valid authorisations, had unpaid licence fees, or failed to meet set-up requirements.
