The Central Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with an attempt to smuggle 250 bags of cocoa beans out of the country.
The arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation in Elmina on Sunday, June 8, 2025, following a tip-off received two weeks earlier about a syndicate allegedly involved in smuggling cocoa and illicit drugs to neighbouring countries.
According to a police statement, the operation intercepted a Hyundai Mighty truck with registration number CR 726-25 around 11:00 a.m.
on the day of the operation.
