Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands is recovering in hospital following a horseback riding mishap that left her with a fractured upper arm.

In an official statement released by the Dutch Royal House on Wednesday, June 11, the palace confirmed that the 21-year-old princess underwent surgery on Tuesday to treat the injury. "The surgery went well," the palace shared. "She will remain in the UMC Utrecht for monitoring until tomorrow."Known for her love of horseback riding, the Princess of Orange was injured after falling from her horse - an activity she's long enjoyed and is often pictured doing, particularly with her horse, Mojito.

The incident has led to a few adjustments in the royal family's schedule.

A planned summer photo session originally set for June 12 at the Paleis Huis ten Bosch has now been postponed to June 30 to allow the princess time to recover.
