The Supreme Court is expected to deliver its ruling on Wednesday, June 11, on two applications filed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency, Ernest Kumi.

According to a report by gbcghanaonline.com, the MP is asking the apex court to set aside a contempt conviction handed to him by the Koforidua High Court and to quash an interim injunction that bars him from acting as the elected representative of the constituency.

The applications, filed earlier in 2025, seek to nullify a February 19 contempt ruling by Justice Emmanuel Senyo Amedahe and to prohibit the same judge from proceeding with sentencing.

In a separate application, Kumi is requesting a certiorari order to overturn multiple rulings by the Koforidua High Court, including an interim injunction issued on January 2 and a related ruling delivered on January 6.
