The government has ruled out any legal dispute over its directive for mobile network operators to increase data bundle offerings starting next month.
Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Sam George, announced that mobile network operators are to implement a 10-15% increase in data offerings effective Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
He indicated that the directive was the result of extensive stakeholder engagement and therefore unlikely to face legal opposition. "We will not have an instance where you will see people either go to court to challenge the directive or go to the electronic tribunal.
We have worked together to get to this point, and that is the value of consultation," he stated.
