President John Dramani Mahama has urged the newly constituted Police Council not to allow political interference to compromise the integrity and professionalism of the Ghana Police Service.

Speaking at a swearing-in ceremony, the President urged the Council to remain independent and resist pressure from political actors.

The 10-member Council, chaired by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has been tasked with supporting efforts to enhance the effectiveness, accountability, and discipline of the service. "Your selection is no coincidence.

It reflects your integrity, expertise and proven dedication to serving your nation. "You have been called to serve at a critical time when public confidence in our institutions is being tested and when the Ghana Police Service must reposition itself, I dare say reset itself to meet the growing expectations of the Ghanaian people," he said.
