The Minister of Health, , has stated that the implementation of the 2024 Collective Agreement by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, (GRNMA) is not captured in the 2025 Budget Statement.
According to him, budgetary constraints will make it difficult for government to effect payment this year.
At a press conference on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, he explained the government's position on the ongoing strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA). "We wish to draw attention to the fact that the conditions of service under reference are not captured in the 2025 budget and will completely dislodge the national budget if implemented immediately in the manner it currently exists," he said.
More than 128,000 nurses and midwives across Ghana have declared a nationwide strike action over government's continued delay in implementing their new conditions of service which was agreed in 2024 under the Akufo-Addo government.
