AngloGold Ashanti's Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, Stewart Bailey, has expressed strong confidence in the company's business model, even as small-scale gold mining activities in Ghana continue to rise.

In an interview on the sidelines of the Mining in Motion Summit aired on Channel One TV's The Point of View on Monday June 9, Bailey acknowledged the increasing allure of gold mining, particularly during periods of higher gold prices, which has led to greater participation in small-scale mining.

Despite this trend, he emphasised that AngloGold Ashanti's business model remains robust and adaptable. "Our business model rest on a few key things - responsible extraction of the scarce natural resource.

We are custodians of that natural resource for the countries that we operate in.
