A leading member of the New Patriotic Party, , has dismissed claims by a section of the party that individuals who claim to have spent significantly on the party should lead the party as its presidential candidate in 2028.
In his view, the wealth of individual aspirants cannot be used as a yardstick to determine their leadership qualities, nor can the same be used to grant an aspirant automatic qualification for those seeking to lead the party.
Lawyer Atta Akyea's comment comes on the back of recent narratives about individuals and their wealth, as well as their contributions to the party as financiers, as the NPP prepares for its presidential primaries early next year.
Speaking to Asaase Radio on the subject matter, he said, "Do you know the number of people who have contributed significantly to the party but have always remained silent?
