The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced that the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both school and private candidates will take place from Wednesday, June 11 to Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
According to a press release issued by the Council, a total of 603,328 candidates from 20,395 participating schools have registered to write the school-based examination.
This marks a 5.99% increase over the 2024 entry figure of 569,236.Of the registered candidates, 297,250 are males and 306,078 are females.
For private candidates, WAEC recorded 1,661 entries comprising 858 males and 803 females, which reflects a 19.49% increase over the 2024 private entry figure of 1,390.
