Chairperson of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Abena Osei-Asare, has raised strong concerns over the government's 2025 budget, criticising significant funding cuts to key anti-corruption institutions.
She warned that these reductions undermine the country's commitment to fighting graft and ensuring accountability.
Speaking in an interview with Joy FM on Monday, June 9, the former Deputy Finance Minister questioned the government's priorities, asking, "How do we say we want to fight corruption when we keep reducing the allocation or the resources that they need to carry out the activities?" Osei-Asare pointed specifically to budgetary reductions for major oversight bodies, including the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which is currently handling multiple high-profile investigations.
The OSP's budget has been cut from GH¢150 million in 2024 to GH¢146 million in 2025, representing a 2.67% reduction.
