The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has postponed the implementation of the new Energy Sector Shortfall and Debt Repayment Levy from June 9 to June 16, following strong resistance from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC).
The levy, which was originally set to take effect this Sunday, faced resistance from industry players who raised concerns over the timing and lack of adequate engagement.
In a brief statement, the GRA confirmed it had reached an understanding with COMAC after discussions held "in the spirit of cordiality and partnership." "The Association has concerns with the 9 June implementation date.
We have discussed with their leadership…and have agreed a new start date of 16 June," GRA said in interaction with Citi News.
