The National Association of Registered Midwives has clarified its decision not to join the ongoing strike by some nursing and midwifery unions over the government's delayed implementation of the 2024 conditions of service agreement.
While the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has declared a strike, the National Association of Registered Midwives and other groups have opted out.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on Sunday, May 8, the National Vice President of the National Association of Registered Midwives, Jonathan Yelfari, explained that their decision was not rooted in disagreement over the need for improved working conditions, but rather in dissatisfaction with how the matter has been handled.
According to him, the association supports the call for better conditions but disagrees with the GRNMA's approach to the issue.
