The National Labour Commission (NLC) has instructed the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) to end its ongoing strike and return to duty, describing the industrial action as unlawful.

This directive, issued on Tuesday, June 4, 2025, comes amid widespread disruption in healthcare services across the country, as the strike by GRNMA members continues to leave patients stranded and hospitals understaffed.

According to the NLC, the GRNMA violated established legal protocols by failing to adhere to Section 159 of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651), which governs lawful industrial actions.

The GRNMA had earlier notified the Commission of its intent to strike in a letter dated May 29, 2025.
