The Head of Monitoring and Intelligence at the National Security Secretariat, Hajia Rashida Mahama, has issued a strong warning to officials at axle weight stations across the country, demanding an immediate end to corrupt practices or face prosecution.
The warning was delivered during an official escort operation, in which Hajia Mahama and her team accompanied cargo trucks from Ghana to the Togo border, following a safety request from a logistics company.
Along the route, she uncovered disturbing irregularities at several axle weighing stations.
Hajia Mahama revealed that some station officials were deliberately inflating the recorded weight of cargo in a scheme to extort money from truck drivers.
