A former General Secretary of the (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has condemned public officials for using their social media accounts to disseminate state and official information.
Sharing his views on Citi FM, on June 3, 2025, he slammed the Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Justice Srem Sai, for providing an update on the investigation of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the (NPP), via his personal social media account.
Agyepong argued that communication meant for personal associates and network, must be distinctly separate from official communications, describing the practice by some public officials as unethical and inappropriate. "EOCO has not told us [anything on Wontumi's arrest].
Apart from the fact that the Deputy Attorney General used social media to inform the public on the update on his (Wontumi) detention (sic); the social media account he used is not an official handle.
