The Bank of Ghana (BoG) will, by August 2025, introduce comprehensive digital lending guidelines aimed at protecting vulnerable borrowers and sanitising the rapidly growing online lending space.
This was disclosed by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr.
Johnson Asiama, during a post-Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting with Chief Executive Officers of banks on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
His remarks come after the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) on May 31, identified 48 mobile lending apps as the source of a troubling surge in cyberbullying and privacy violations, warning Ghanaians against engaging with these unregulated platforms.
