President has commended the Gold Board (GoldBod) for its instrumental role in transforming Ghana's gold trading landscape, citing its impact on revenue growth and sustainability reforms in the mining sector.
Speaking at the Global Mining Summit on Monday, June 2, 2025, President Mahama described GoldBod as a key component of his administration's broader agenda to reform the gold mining industry.
He noted that the institution is already proving effective in cleaning up the gold export system and boosting returns for the country. "In its short existence, it has sanitized the gold sector, ensuring maximum returns from our gold exports," the President said.
He disclosed that between January and April 2025, Ghana earned $2.7 billion in gold export revenue through the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) and GoldBod, adding that the figure is expected to grow significantly by the end of the year. "Ghana's gold exports end the country $2.7 billion.
