Residents of the Tema Main Harbour Railways area were left shaken on Friday following a gruesome incident in which a man was reportedly beheaded by a suspect believed to be mentally unstable.

The attacker, identified only as Ali and said to be in his 30s, allegedly decapitated a man thought to be in his mid-50s, who worked as a caretaker in the area.

Eyewitnesses told the Ghana News Agency that Ali carried the severed head in a bag, walking through parts of the community before he was apprehended by police.

He later led officers from the Tema Regional Police Command to the scene where the rest of the body was found.
