On a recent episode of Good Evening Ghana monitored bt MyNewsGh, media personality Okatakyie Afrifa made startling claims about the alleged behind-the-scenes influence of US-based political commentator Kevin Taylor on appointments within Ghana's opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a conversation with host Paul Adom-Otchere, Afrifa alleged that Kevin Taylor, who he claimed holds a warrant in Ghana, has orchestrated the appointment of a woman to a sensitive government board position-specifically at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). "That position is more or less a reserved position for Kevin Taylor.
For which he was supposed to put somebody that he trusts," Afrifa stated, labeling the phenomenon as the "Kevin Taylor effect." According to Afrifa, the woman allegedly appointed under Taylor's instructions had been handed power of attorney by Taylor himself during a private meeting with some NDC leaders.
Afrifa further claimed that due diligence was sidestepped simply because "it was Kevin Taylor's appointment." He added that Taylor had been in Ghana twice since the NDC's electoral success and was "heavily protected" during those visits.
