The 2024 Presidential Candidate of the (NPP) and former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has arrived at the headquarters of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) following the arrest and continued detention of the party's Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi.
Several Members of Parliament and senior party officials have also gathered at the NIB premises, alongside a crowd of supporters, amid heightened police security.
Chairman Wontumi was arrested on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the .
Following his release by the CID, he was immediately taken into custody by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
