Andy Appiah Kubi, counsel for the embattled Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has denied claims that his client has refused to eat in protest against his continued detention.

Minority Chief Whip and Member of for Nsawam-Adoagyire constituency, Frank Annoh Dompreh, alleged that Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has refused to eat in protest against his detention conditions, describing the supposed hunger strike as a desperate measure amid what he terms "shocking" treatment by EOCO officials.

Wontumi is currently under investigation for alleged involvement in multiple criminal offences, including fraud, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering.
