The has deployed additional officers to the headquarters of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to enhance security.
However, the exact reason for the heightened security presence at the premises remains unclear.
On Thursday, May 30, 2025, members of the Minority Caucus and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stormed the EOCO headquarters to demand a review of the bail conditions for the NPP's Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, who has been in custody for over 48 hours.
Wontumi is currently under investigation for his alleged involvement in multiple criminal offences, including fraud, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering.
