President has announced the establishment of two new tertiary institutions in the Bono East Region as part of efforts to expand access to quality education and strengthen technical and healthcare training in Ghana.

Speaking during a "Thank You Tour" of the region on May 29, 2025, President Mahama disclosed plans for a Technical University in Techiman and a University of Health and Life Sciences in Kintampo.

According to him, a site has already been secured at Forikrom, a suburb of Techiman, for the construction of the Technical University.

The institution, he noted, will provide young people with the technical and vocational skills needed to support Ghana's industrialisation drive and promote job creation. "The Technical University will be instrumental in providing young people with the technical and vocational skills to drive the nation's industrialisation agenda and create sustainable jobs," Mahama said.
