The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued nine people and confirmed one death following a fatal collision on the Cape Coast-Takoradi highway.
The accident occurred on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Elmina checkpoint involving a Toyota Hiace (registration GR 1464-18) and a Zonda truck (registration GN 4197-21).
According to a statement by the Public Relations Office, personnel from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) fire station responded promptly to a distress call at 3:25 p.m.
The rescue operation, led by Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) Halm, involved securing the scene, controlling traffic, and requesting additional support from the Regional Headquarters Rescue Team. "Upon receiving the distress call, our team acted immediately to prevent further casualties," said ADO I Halm.
