The Supreme Court has dismissed an application for an interlocutory injunction filed by Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, which sought to halt her suspension and the impeachment proceedings against her.
In a unanimous decision on Tuesday, a five-member panel of the court, presided over by Acting Chief Justice Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, ruled that the application lacked merit and subsequently dismissed it.
Justice Torkornoo had requested the court to suspend the ongoing impeachment process and her suspension pending the final determination of her substantive suit.
In that suit, she is challenging the constitutionality of the impeachment proceedings initiated against her.
