The Minority in Parliament has criticised Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, accusing him of lacking the tact and diplomacy required of Ghana's top diplomat.

The backlash follows the Minister's decision to shut down Ghana's Embassy in Washington, DC, over allegations that some staff were involved in fraudulent and corrupt activities.

While the Minister has announced that the embassy will reopen on Thursday, the Minority remains dissatisfied with his handling of the matter.

Ranking Member on Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, Samuel Abu Jinapor, cautioned the Minister to exercise greater circumspection in his decisions and public statements, warning that they could harm Ghana's international reputation.
