The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Eric Opoku, has directed the Attorney General (AG) to begin the process of terminating the existing Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam contract and re-awarding it for construction.

He made the disclosure in an interview with journalists on Friday, August 29, 2025.

Dr Opoku explained that the move is intended to provide a lasting solution to the perennial flooding caused by the annual spillage of the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso.

He stressed that the government remains committed to completing the Pwalugu Dam project, describing it as a crucial step toward safeguarding farmers' livelihoods and strengthening food security. "What we are doing is that we have asked the AG to initiate the processes for the termination of the contract and to re-award it.
