The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced a significant development in the ongoing investigation into missing containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), revealing that 2,637 containers have now been traced.
This updated figure, confirmed by the committee tasked with probing the matter, more than doubles the initial estimate of 1,300 containers reported missing in March 2025.
At that time, only 40 had been recovered, sparking widespread concern and calls for accountability.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, May 27, Richmond Rockson, Head of Communications at the Ministry, explained that the inconsistencies in the figures stemmed from poor record reconciliation during a ministerial transition. "In the early stages, we flagged about 3,000 containers as uncleared," Rockson said. "But when the new Energy Minister took office, the number presented to him was closer to 2,500.
