Outgoing United States Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer, has praised the strength of Ghana's democratic institutions and reaffirmed the enduring bond between the two nations.

Reflecting on her time in office in an interview on Channel One TV's The Point of View, on Monday, May 26, Ambassador Palmer described the U.S.-Ghana relationship as "thriving," noting that while there is still work to be done to deepen bilateral ties, significant progress has been made. "There is still work to be done to deepen the relationship," she stated, "But I do think the relationship is thriving, and I am pleased to have been here for Ghana's elections and my own-to see the power of democracy." Palmer highlighted her unique experience of witnessing democratic processes unfold both in Ghana and the United States during her diplomatic service.

She praised Ghana for maintaining its position as a "beacon of democracy" in West Africa, a region that has in recent years witnessed increasing political instability. "To see the power of democracy in the region and to see Ghana remain a beacon for the region and an example of democracy.

Not the only one.
