Outgoing United States Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer, has commended President John Dramani Mahama's approach to tackling security challenges in the Sahel region.
Amid escalating instability in the Sahel-where several countries face threats from extremist groups and political unrest-Ambassador Palmer highlighted Mahama's strategy as both thoughtful and pragmatic.
In an interview on The Point of View on Channel One TV with Bernard Avle, she expressed admiration for his emphasis on prioritizing security and strengthening regional relationships before addressing democratic reforms. "I think to help the central Sahel, I have been intrigued by President Mahama's approach of saying let's talk about what we need to do to make ourselves more secure, safe, to improve and deepen relationships, then we talk about democracy," Ambassador Palmer remarked.
