The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to begin the implementation of the credit scoring system proposed in the party's manifesto before the December 7 polls.

In the 2024 manifesto, Dr.

Bawumia committed to establishing a credit scoring system that would allow Ghanaians to purchase goods and services on credit, even without immediate cash at hand.

He highlighted that the key difference between Ghana and more advanced nations, where citizens enjoy a higher standard of living, is the existence of such a credit system.

Dr.

Bawumia explained that Ghana is now ready for a credit score system, thanks to the successful implementation of the national identification system, digital addressing system, and increased financial inclusion through mobile money wallets and the interoperability between bank accounts and mobile money accounts.

While campaigning in the Awutu Senya East constituency, Dr.

Bawumia announced that the NPP government would roll out the credit scoring system before the upcoming elections, reinforcing the party's commitment to enhancing economic opportunities for Ghanaians.   By: Hanson Agyemang
