Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, has hinted at championing a policy that will ensure that products that can be manufactured locally are not imported into the country.
He made this known when he met the Plastic Manufacturers Association, who complained bitterly about import duties, taxes and others, which are stifling their businesses.
Cassiel Ato Forson remarked "Let me be clear: I will champion a policy to ensure products that can be produced locally are not imported. We must protect Ghanaian industries, create jobs, and add value to what we make right here at home".
The Minister used the opportunity to assure them that government is taking bold steps to stabilize the economy, bring down inflation, and strengthen the cedi-because these directly impact port charges and the cost of doing business.
