Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is expected to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service today, Monday, May 26, 2025.
His appearance follows an unsuccessful attempt by a combined team of National Security and police officers to arrest him at his residence on Friday, May 23.
The incident sparked a strong reaction from NPP supporters, who gathered in large numbers at his residence to protest the operation.
The crowd condemned the presence of heavily armed personnel, describing the move as intimidation.
