The Ghana Police Service has officially launched a community watchdog initiative aimed at curbing drug trafficking and abuse in Zongo communities, enrolling 140 individuals in the initial phase.

The initiative stems from a directive by Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, who announced the plan during a recent visit to Sabon Zongo in Accra.

His call to action focuses on involving local residents-particularly those already active in reporting drug-related crimes-in formal security operations.

Addressing residents at a sensitization event on May 8, the Minister emphasized the government's broader commitment to tackling drug-related issues through grassroots involvement and youth empowerment.
