Former Minister of Food and Agriculture and Member of for Abetifi, Bryan Acheampong, has reportedly declared his intention to contest the 's (NPP) flagbearer position ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Acheampong's decision was confirmed through a social media post by GHOne TV on Sunday, May 25, 2025, stating, "Bryan Acheampong to contest NPP flagbearership." Additionally, Okay FM reported that Acheampong will participate in the NPP presidential primaries and aims to represent the party in the 2028 elections.
In recent months, the former Agriculture Minister has been actively engaging with communities-most notably visiting the Adum-Blue Light fire disaster site in Kumasi, where he pledged support for rebuilding efforts and donated GH¢300,000 to affected victims.
Meanwhile, his candidacy has garnered support from prominent party members, including Hopeson Adorye, former MP for Asante Akim North; Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, MP for Mpraeso; and Davis Ansah Opoku.
