The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly has issued summons to shop owners, driver unions, and market queens in the Central Business District of Koforidua who failed to participate in a communal clean-up exercise held on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
The exercise, spearheaded by the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Ransford Owusu Boakye, forms part of pragmatic efforts to address recurring flooding and poor sanitation in Koforidua.
It was supported by the Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, and his sub-chiefs, alongside personnel from the 1st Infantry Battalion and the Koforidua Divisional Police Command.
Explaining the rationale behind the summons in an interview with Citi News after the exercise, MCE Ransford Owusu Boakye stated that those who abstained have been scheduled to appear before a committee on Monday, May 26, 2025, to explain their absence. "We are inviting them to the assembly to explain why they refused to take part in this exercise.
