Private legal practitioner Nii Kpakpo Samoa has described the recent arrest of NPP youth activist Alfred Ababio Kumi, popularly known as Adenta Kumi, as nothing out of the ordinary, dismissing suggestions that it represents an abuse of state power.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, May 24, 2025, Samoa pushed back against criticism-particularly from members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)-regarding the involvement of National Security operatives in the arrest. "This is not novel," he said. "The person who is complaining must hold me to a higher standard than he held when he was in power.
When you were in power, you cannot tell me that you did things that I am now doing and are out of the ordinary.
When that happens, I can take it - but not when the NPP comes to tell me that arresting people or inviting them with five or six policemen is wrong.
