Alfred Ababio Kumi, popularly known as Adenta Kumi, a youth activist of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former parliamentary aspirant, has been released from the custody of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
His release comes after discussions between security officials and the Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
Kumi was arrested on Friday, May 23, 2025, and charged with the publication of false news.
The arrest followed comments he made both on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and during a radio interview.
