The family of Alfred Ababio Kumi, popularly known as Adenta Kumi, has described his arrest as politically motivated, insisting that he was merely expressing his opinion and should not have been detained.

Speaking on the matter on the Channel One Newsroom on Friday May 23, Kumi's cousin, Andy Amankwah, defended his relative's statements, arguing that they were not defamatory but rather allegations backed by evidence. "I think that he didn't really say anything defamatory.

He expressed his opinion and made an allegation which he claims have evidence to back his allegations.

So I feel that we took the matter a little higher," Amankwah stated.
