Calm has returned to Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region after violent clashes erupted between youth groups on Thursday, 22nd May.
According to the Eastern South Regional Police Command, around 300 young people took to the streets in protest, blocking roads, burning tyres, and vandalising shops and vehicles in the area.
In a swift response, a reinforcement team from the National Police Headquarters and the National Formed Police Unit was deployed to the community to restore order. "Calm has been restored at Adoagyiri following the disturbances," the Police said in a statement.
The violence is believed to be linked to a fatal shooting incident that occurred on Monday, 20th May.
