Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Dame, has mounted a strong defense for his representation of suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo in her application, challenging her suspension and the ongoing hearing on three petitions for her removal.
Speaking in an interview on JoyNews on May 21, 2025, Dame refuted claims that his representation of Justice Torkornoo has politicised the ongoing proceedings on the petitions for Justice Torkornoo's removal.
He asserted that it is rather the ruling (NDC) that has politicised the process.
He claimed that all the lawyers representing the three petitioners are known affiliates of the NDC. "If there is any group of people who have politicised this process, it is the NDC government.
