A joint team of National Security operatives and police officers has launched an operation at the residence of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The security personnel have surrounded the premises, with the operation currently ongoing.
The reasons for the raid remain undisclosed, and it is unclear whether Chairman Wontumi is at home.
Channel One TV's journalist Hafiz Tijani described a tense atmosphere as heavily armed officers maintained a strong presence around the property.
