The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has announced the repatriation of 925 undocumented migrants following a recent operation in Accra.

The migrants, who were largely engaged in street begging, were captured during a major swoop conducted by the GIS on Friday, May 16, 2025.

The repatriation process began the following day, Saturday, May 18.

In a statement issued on Monday, May 19, the GIS confirmed that 819 Nigeriens and 106 Nigerians have so far been returned to their respective home countries. "Repatriation was initiated in the morning of Saturday, 18th May, 2025.
