Ghanaian rapper Joseph Gamor, professionally known as Lyrical Joe has opened up about his disappointment after missing out on the Best Rap Performance award at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), despite putting what he describes as intense effort into his nominated track.
Speaking on Hitz FM's Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio and DJ Slim, the rapper shared that his track '5th August 8' was a major undertaking - both creatively and logistically - and deserved the win. "Yeah [I was disappointed this year], because last year's 5th August caused me a lot of stress and a lot of work went into it.
Slim, you know it's not easy to shoot a 10mins hiphop video and keep it top notch," Lyrical Joe said.According to him, campaigning for the Rap Performance category has always been part of his approach during award seasons, with his loyal fan base also rallying behind him heavily. "As for me anytime I'm nominated I do it [campaign for it], even my fans alone they would not let people sleep online.
They want us to have the best rap performance and everything," he added.
